KNOW THE 411 ON 420 IN THE 702

This is a foggy situation: Nevada is the first state to open up it’s medical cannabis sales to out-of-state license holders. As the first state to accept other states licenses, NV is under everyone’s microscope: the federal government has not decriminalized marijuana- and nearly half of the other states have created laws defining the recreational and medicinal uses of pot, and nearly each of these states has a different marijuana protocol. Not to mention that Nevadans are also campaigning to legalize recreational cannabis, and they are voting this November on whether or not to mesh the vices of Sin City, with the purple haze of Amsterdam.

Before the laws are changed- know the 411 on 420 in the 702:
1. To receive a medical marijuana license in Nevada, you must be diagnosed with one of these debilitating conditions:
a. AIDS
b. Chronic Pain
c. Cancer
d. Glaucoma
e. Severe Nausea and Intestinal discomfort

– You must have a medicinal marijuana license to be in possession of any marijuana: a first time marijuana offense- or the possession of up to an ounce- is punishable by a $600 fine instead of jail time. But, you’ll still receive a misdemeanor.

– If you’re charged with Cultivation (the growing, distribution and sales) of Mary Jane without a license: you’ll receive a felony, and serve jail time.

– You are only able to possess 2 and a half ounces.

– You are only allowed to grow (a maximum of 12) plants if you do not live within 25 miles of the closest dispensary.

It’s been over a decade since the state of Nevada legalized medical marijuana, yet the first dispensaries have only opened up in Clark County in the last year. It’s not every day that Las Vegas tourism chambers and guilds turn away visitors (and all of the dollars that they are able to spend): these organizations are up in arms over medical marijuana tourism- and the
additional types of people that may vacay in the LV. After all, the taxation of marijuana will produce a surplus budget- and no one can deny the power of billions of dollars.
